Taipei -- July 10, 2002
Leaning heavily on the technological know-how that made it the world's
leading motherboard manufacturer, PC Chips today released a first of its
kind 'portable desktop' computer that combines state-of-the-art portable
and desktop features into a single, all purpose PC.
Long known in the technology world for innovation and high standards,
PC Chips's first foray into manufacturing and marketing a complete PC caters
to users who need desktop power and notebook portability - at an affordable
price. Previously, mobile power users maintained one PC for travel
and a second for heavy duty stationary computing tasks - or accepted
trade-offs of functionality for portability.
Exclusive PC Chips 'Genius Design' has created a unique hybrid that molds
the best attributes of desktop and portable PCs into a unique, all-in-one
computer. It's light, compact and mobile like a laptop, but as powerful
and full featured as a top-of-the-line desktop.
Traditional laptop features are limited by space requirements for
an on-board battery. The PC Chips DeskNote portable desktop computer moves
to an external power supply that doubles as a mini uninterrupted power
supply, delivering stable and reliable 'fuel' for desktop computing
power and outstanding performance while making room for a wide variety
of ports that wouldn't fit on a traditional laptop.
The PC Chips DeskNote portable desktop features a built-in LAN, Modem and
TV-out function. An IEEE 1394 port enhances PC connectivity for consumer
electronics audio/video appliances, storage peripherals and portable
devices. In place of traditional PC-MCIA ports, DeskNote's four USB
2.0 ports provide high-speed transfers at up to 480 Mbps to and from
card readers, CD-RWs, smart handheld device, digital cameras and a
host of other input or storage devices.
Providing customers with the maximum range of choice, DeskNote PCs
feature a rich variety of configurations. PC Chips portable desktop computers
support the latest CPUs including the Intel Northwood Pentium 4 for
Desknote Pentium 4 and Celeron processors as well as AMD Athlon for Desknote
XP, and VIA C3 processors for Desknote 3V.
Technically advanced, the entire DeskNote series employs state-of-the-art
SiS Chipsets. For example, the DeskNote Desknote Pentium 4 features SiS 650
Chipset with an integrated, high-performance real 256-bit 2D/3D graphics
engine for powerful multimedia functions, specially designed to create
an outstanding architecture for the Pentium 4 DDR platform. Both Desknote
3V and Desknote 3C models support standard 128MB SDRAM memory and
can be upgraded to a maximum of 512MB.
Desknote Pentium 4 and Desknote XP models, designed, validated and optimized
for the Pentium 4 and Athlon XP processors, respectively and feature
top-of-the-line high-volume DDR266/333 memory technology, today's
most cost-effective and scalable way to implement the latest technologies
in a portable platform.
DeskNote PCs come with a built-in Realtek 10/100Mb Fast Ethernet (LAN)
chip for a total communications solution that significantly enhances
Internet and E-mail experiences.
PC Chips 'Genius Design' makes DeskNote PCs exceptionally user friendly
with thoughtful efficiency features. Example: Two built-in shortcut
keys provide one-touch e-mail retrieval and browser access. And -
perhaps best of all - PC Chips intelligent design innovation has created
a just-right mix of features and power that make DeskNote portable
desktop computers extremely affordable. |
